Customer Challenge

The Great Lakes team investigated supplemental lighting options to support year-round cucumber production. They were focused on finding a robust and reliable lighting solution that helped them meet production targets while ensuring crop health and maximizing efficiency.

Great Lakes decided on the dimmable Philips GreenPower toplighting compact (TLC)  paired with the Philips GrowWise Control. In addition to the flexibility offered by the TLC, Mark Reimer, Research and Business Development Manager at Great Lakes, was influenced by the superiority of the Philips product. Reimer said, “It’s sturdy and robust with exceptional heat sink. We can achieve higher uniformity while delivering the right light level and intensity, which means consistent and quality production”
