Eindhoven, The Netherlands – Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, has delivered Philips GreenPower LED solutions to Baiyi Yinong International Flower Port, a subsidiary of Linxia Yinong Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Investment Co., Ltd. The solution will enable year-round rose production in the Port’s 20-hectare smart greenhouse, providing solutions for plant growth, flower production, energy efficiency and other challenges to build a world-class flower production base that is in line with international standards and that sets new benchmarks in China. The collaboration will improve the quality and economic benefits of flower production in Western China, effectively driving the rapid transformation of the local economy, and enabling enterprises to achieve their sustainable development goals.

“Signify is proud to be a leader in green agriculture by providing scientific LED lighting solutions. Our efficient and sustainable products and control systems effectively promote yield and quality for our partners in agriculture,” said John Wang, President of North East Asia and Senior Vice President. “We remain committed to promoting the sustainable development of all regions and industries with technology innovation, unlocking the extraordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world, and contributing to China's dual-carbon goals, rural revitalization and industrial development."
With Philips GreenPower LED solutions, floriculture flourishes
The project was equipped with Philips full LED solution, including the Philips GreenPower LED toplighting force and GrowWise Control System, with installation supported by Signify's partner Yunnan Aibida Horticulture Tech. Co. Ltd. Philips GreenPower LED solutions effectively promotes rose growth including bud color improvement, greenhouse yield increase and quality enhancement, resulting in an Class-A flower ratio of up to 80%. Take Naomi as an example, the installation of Philips GreenPower LED solutions increased the production level of per square meter from the original 160-180 stems to 300 stems, with the Class-A flower ratio as high as 85%.

Udo van Slooten, Business Leader of Horticulture LED Solutions, said, "We are delighted to see Philips GreenPower LED solutions applied in large-scale rose production greenhouses for the first time in China, allowing us to once again showcase the superior advantages of LEDs in flower production. Based on Signify’s accumulated experience in rose production, we believe we can support more Chinese growers with lighting solutions to improve their production efficiency."
Supporting China’s “rural revitalization” goals and sustainable enterprises
Compared with traditional light sources, LEDs have more flexible dimming levels, lower heat dissipation and energy consumption. They can be used longer as supplementary lighting to meet higher demands for flowers during peak holiday seasons, helping drive grower profits. The efficient year-round production of roses creates more labor demand, which can enable local farmers to create new sources of supplemental income during the off season.
Zetian Li, the deputy general manager of Baiyi Yinong International Flower Port said, “We are very pleased to partner with Signify. Through Philips' advanced LED supplementary light technology, we can clearly see the important role of technology in sustainable development and rural revitalization. We look forward to further cooperating with Signify to drive regional economic development and support China in its rural revitalization and industrial development at the local level."

The sustainable production enabled by Philips GreenPower LED solution can also effectively contribute to China's “dual carbon” goals, as it helps growers get closer to achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions. In the future, Signify will continue collaborating with more partners in China to explore the infinite possibilities of grow lighting, and empowering China's sustainable development with technology innovation.
